iU has completed their 5th Winter tour throughout the Yunnan Province, the mission was an absolute success while many people were affected by the message of life and hope brought my the team. Ultimately, each tour's purpose is to build lifelong friendships between our community and the beautiful friends we have found among the Chinese.
In the winter of 2014, iU with a team of 22 went to foster and renew friendships in cities along the southern Chinese border through a performance that sought to bring hope and life to the individual's heart. iU's performances were for audiences in 8 cities - from elementary to high school students, local music venues to university campuses, and remote village communities - these performances were well recieved across the whole of Yunnan province.
The performance was a combination of original music written by iU and fun American and Chinese originals, with over 80% of the performace delivered in Mandarin. This tour featured a total of 10 musicians including the opening act iU2 which was comprised of several iU students. The performance theme was COME ALIVE, and the performance Alive indeed, with constantly changing lead singers, swing dancing, dynamic percusson and even some random dancing tigers. iU band even created a half Chinese half english CD to sell on the tour and sold out 4 shows in.
...Following the 2014 tour, iU artists' James Powell (& wife, Kate) and Preston and Heidi Moreau, and also photographer and hair stylist Megan Biefelt have stayed after the tour in the city of Wenshan to continue to pour into the friendships established during this past tour & previous visits.
